Balbriggan Chamber of Commerce held their most recent networking event in Balbriggan Golf Club on Thursday, 30th of May 2019. There was another large turnout of members, and it afforded them an opportunity to network with each other.
Chamber President Richard Berney welcomed everybody and emphasised the potential of Balbriggan as a place to base or do business. He pledged Chamber’s ongoing support for the Our Balbriggan socio-economic strategy and thanked members for their continued support of the Chamber.
Breffini O’Rourke, Administrative Officer for Economic, Enterprise and Tourism Development in Fingal County Council, spoke at the event. He presented the strategy for ‘Our Balbriggan’ which was recently launched in the town, and is funded by Fingal County Council.
Philip Clapperton, Director of regional sales for Magnet Networks discussed Balbriggan’s new Wi-Fi launch which transformed the centre of town into a free public Wi-Fi zone. This unique initiative provides locals and visitors with unlimited access. Philip discussed how the launch of the Wi-Fi forms part of the council’s wider public Wi-Fi plan which sees the rollout of free public Wi-Fi hotspots to town and village centres across the County.
Congratulations were extended to our independent Councillors Tony Murphy and Grainne Maguire and Fine Gael Councillor Tom O’Leary who were re-elected and also to welcome our new Green Party Councillor Joe O’Brien.
