Nifti, the rural transport initiative in the North County has launched two new routes to begin operation for the months of July and August. One service will operate from Balbriggan as far as Ardgillan Demesne and the other will operate between the rural villages of the North County and Balbriggan and on to Ardgillan. Launching the Ardgillan route, Cathaoirleach of Balbriggan Town Council, Frank Snowe said, “Ardgillan is now opened to residents of Balbriggan who, up to now, had no opportunity to visit this amazing amenity, without transport. Newly elected County Mayor, Ken Farrell who launched the rural segment of the service, was equally fullsome in his praise for Nifti. “This is my first official function as Mayor and I am delighted that Nifti is undertaking this initiative and I hope that they will expand this service in the future.” he said. Chairman of Nifti, Cathal Boland said that “this project needs support and it is important for retailers in the area to ‘talk up’ the service. This is a volunteer service funded mainly by grants and, while the Ardgillan service will be a summer service, it is hoped to extend the rural service as a year round venture,” he said.
