Economic Development Conference

Joe English

Chamber President Joseph English speaking at the Economic Development Conference.

As part of the Chamber’s drive to create a more vibrant and dynamic business community in Balbriggan and District, a conference, ” The Economic Development of Balbriggan”, was held in the Bracken Court Hotel Balbriggan to showcase the current and future economic development plan for Balbriggan.

Local businesses were invited to voice what is working well and where improvements could be made and what the priorities are for the business community.

The Fingal County Enterprise Board demonstrated its ability to support the Balbriggan business community and its strategy for the years ahead.

Possibilities for town renewal and regeneration were discussed with Billy Houlihan, Cork County Architect who showcased the experience of Clonakilty.  Our own Public Realm Consultants, Loci showcased their work to date on creating a vision for our town centre.

Participation was key to this highly successful and interactive conference.  On the day, we definitely harnessed the energy of our business community and gathered political support to continue the drive to make Balbriggan a better place to work and live.  The proof of this commitment was the development of three key initiatives namely:

  • Balbriggan Green Energy Project
  • Development of a Maritime Museum
  • Arts Centre Project.

The fruits of these projects will create a lasting legacy, lead initially by the Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed ultimately by the people of Balbriggan.
